Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Basketball Australia (BA) is a diverse and inclusive organization and is committed to providing a safe, fun and inclusive environment for all people, including those of diverse sexualities and genders. Being an inclusive sport not only reflects our values, but it also reflects the diversity of our local communities. BA will continue to work with our community to ensure Basketball is a safe space for all.

BA uses LGBTQIA+ to recognize lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning members of the community. The + holds space for expansion of genders and sexual orientation. Our organisation recognises and respects all gender identities and believes everyone has the right to participate in a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment. BA also supports all athletes, participants, volunteers and staff dressing according to their affirmed gender within the sport and our organisation.

LGBTQ+ Resources

BA are members of Pride in Sport. Pride in Sport is a national not-for-profit sporting inclusion program specifically designed to assist sporting organisations of all levels with the inclusion of employees, athletes, coaches, volunteers and spectators with diverse sexualities and genders. BA are currently undertaking their first Pride in Sport Index.
