Basketball Australia would like to congratulate five Australian officials who have been appointed by the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) to officiate the IWBF World Championships in Dubai this June.
The panel is made up of six technical committee members, 32 referees, six referee supervisors, seven classifiers, and six game commissioners representing 31 nations, with Australian Officials Don Perriman (Assistant Technical Director), Matt Wells (Referee Supervisor), Lisa Chaffey (Classifier), Jarrod Cresp and Blaine Krapljanov (Referees) among the 57-strong panel selected to officiate the event.
Blaine Krapljanov, who brings with him more than a decade of experience in the National Wheelchair Basketball League (NWBL) and has previously officiated at various IWBF international events.
“Recently, in preparation for the World Championships, I had the privilege thanks to Basketball Australia, to travel with the Rollers on their tour in Europe and attend the IWBF Asian Para Men's qualifying tournament in Thailand," Krapljanov said.
"Being selected for any tournament is an honour, but to represent IWBF on the world stage is very special.
“The relationships I have built with individuals involved in wheelchair basketball are cherished, and these memories will last a lifetime."
The 12-day tournament kicks off on 9 June where we will see the men’s competition get underway with the host nation, the UAE, taking on Italy in the first game following the Opening Ceremony at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, and concludes with the gold medal games on 20 June.
