Biography
From Woodford– 50 kilometres north-west of Brisbane - Mitchell's wheelchair basketball journey began after watching a local tournament in Brisbane, where he was invited to try the sport with the Suncoast Spinners on the Sunshine Coast.
Since then, he has competed in various leagues and tournaments, including the 2024 NWBL season and the National Junior Wheelchair Basketball Championships, which he has participated in since 2019.
Growing up in a family surrounded by sports, Mitchell was exposed to a range of activities, from cricket to touch football, soccer, and swimming.
Although no one individual stands out as a singular role model, he credits a wide range of friends, family, and teachers for influencing his path.
Before wheelchair basketball, Mitchell was officially classified as a swimmer (S5) and briefly pursued a Bachelor of Business.
Playing Style:
Mitchell describes his style as gritty and defensive, focusing on creating opportunities for his teammates by setting effective picks and using angles to generate scoring chances.
