National Coaches Conference hits Canberra
Over 250 Australian and International coaches converge in Canberra for the 8th National Coaches Conference.
Lindsay Gaze has become an icon of the game as a player, coach, and administrator.
He represented Australia at three Olympics as a player, and as a coach at four Games. He also coached Australia to fifth position at the 1982 World Championship, a result that has still never been bettered.
Under Gaze’s influence, the Melbourne Tigers have established themselves as a perennial force in the NBL, winning two Championships under his direction.
During his career he was the longest-tenured coach in the league and has led his team in over 600 games (an NBL record).
He has also made a remarkable contribution to Australian coach development and FIBA during his career.
In the spirit of reconciliation Basketball Australia acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
