Born in Melbourne, Exum attended the AIS in Canberra and represented Australia at junior international level.
Selected with Pick 5 in the 2014 NBA, he made his debut with the Utah Jazz where he spent five seasons and played 245 games including a stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Exum spent time at the Cleveland Cavaliers (2019 - 2021) before playing Euro ball for Barcelona (2021 - 2022) and Partizan NIS Belgrade (2022 - 2023)
The guard made a return to the NBA for Dallas in 2023 and played a key role in the NBA Finals campaign for the Dallas Mavericks in 2024 alongside fellow Boomer Josh Green.
