Just 12 teams remain in the championship division of the U14 Club Championships in Willetton, with quarterfinal places on the line.
Today’s matches will determine the top two teams in each of the four boys’ and girls’ pools, before the quarterfinals begin at 2:30 PM AWST.
Girls Championship
The hometown Willetton Tigers remain in contention after winning the girls’ shield division in 2025. They finished undefeated at the top of Group A with a percentage of 203.74%. After beating Canberra 76–47 in their first Pool AA game, they will face the Eastern Mavericks at 9:00 AM AWST to decide first place in the pool and determine quarterfinal seeding.
The Melbourne Tigers are another team to watch. They cruised through Group B with a percentage of 242.4%, conceding only 99 points. After beating the West Adelaide Bearcats by 10 points and the North Gold Coast Seahawks by 17, Melbourne secured top spot and a quarterfinal berth. The Seahawks and Bearcats will meet at 10:30 AM AWST to decide who joins them.
Pool CC’s two quarterfinalists have already been decided: the Southern Districts Spartans and Dandenong Rangers. The Spartans have suffered only one loss in the tournament, against the Melbourne Tigers, and defeated the Perry Lakes Hawks in their first game of this pool. The Rangers topped Group C and also beat the Hawks, setting up a showdown to determine the pool’s top seed for the quarterfinals.
Rounding out the girls’ championship contenders in Pool DD are the Casey Cavaliers, Camberwell Dragons and Sturt Sabres. Casey has secured a quarterfinal berth and remains unbeaten through five games. Camberwell and Sturt will meet at 10:30 AM AWST to determine who finishes second in the group and progresses.
Boys Championship:
Pool AA features the Knox Raiders, Norwood Flames and Cockburn Cougars. Knox topped Group A, while Norwood and Cockburn finished second in their respective groups. In yesterday’s action, Knox defeated Norwood by eight points before Norwood bounced back to beat Cockburn. The Cougars must defeat the Raiders to qualify, but all three teams remain in contention with one game to play.
Pool BB brought together top-seeded Frankston Blues and second-place finishers Geelong United and Binar Maali. Frankston has high aspirations of going deep into the tournament and is riding a five-game winning streak, including Pool BB victories over Geelong and Binar. Those two teams will meet at 10:30 AM AWST to determine who joins the Blues in the quarterfinals.
Pool CC features heavyweights across the board, with the Warwick Senators, Sydney Comets and South Adelaide Panthers competing in a stacked group. The Panthers had lost only once to the Frankston Blues, in the earlier stage of the tournament, while Warwick and Sydney had both been undefeated. The Comets also knocked out defending champions Logan Thunder. South Adelaide stunned Sydney in the first pool game yesterday, winning by three points, before the Warwick Senators also defeated the Comets to eliminate them. The Senators and Panthers will face off at 9:00 AM AWST to determine top spot in what promises to be a fascinating clash.
Pool DD rounds out the boys’ championship and includes two group winners, the Dandenong Rangers and Sturt Sabres, alongside the Ipswich Force. This is another tight group: Dandenong defeated Ipswich in the opening match before losing to Sturt in the second. All three teams remain in contention. The Sabres and Force will face off at 10:30 AM AWST, with Ipswich needing a win to keep its quarterfinal hopes alive.

Today’s games begin at 9:00 AM AWST, with championship and shield pool games taking place throughout the morning. The quarterfinals begin at 2:30 PM AWST. The semifinals will be played on Thursday, before the medal matches bring the U14 Club Championships to a close on Friday.
