THE CHAMPS 

Queensland’s Logan Thunder return as the defending boys champions after claiming the Ken Watson Trophy in 2025 with a 76-59 victory over the North Adelaide Rockets. 

In the girls division, Western Australia’s Cockburn Cougars will defend the Michele Timms Trophy after defeating the Bulleen Boomers 58-35 in last year’s Championship Final.

HISTORY 
 
Logan Thunder made Queensland history in 2025 to be the first club from the State to bring home the boys’ Ken Watson Trophy.  Logan extinguished a 55-year drought for Queensland. 

Cockburn Cougars broke a 19-year WA drought in the girls competition. Before Cockburn’s 2025 victory, the last Western Australian club to win the Michele Timms Trophy was Willetton in 2006. Cockburn were also only the second WA Club to win the Timms.  
 
Victoria remains overwhelmingly dominant historically. Victorian clubs have won 40 of the 54 contested boys championships and 32 of the 43 contested girls championships through to 2025. That’s a remarkable 72 out of 97 Championship trophies awarded across the two competitions. 
 
The Melbourne Tigers remain the most successful club in the boys division.  The Tigers have claimed the Ken Watson Trophy nine times: 1977, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1997, 2000 and 2010. A friendly Victorian rival is hot on their heels though, with the Bulleen Boomers holding seven titles in the boys division and it doesn’t stop there. 
 
Bulleen are the most successful club in the history of the tournament. Bulleen have won the Michele Timms Trophy 12 times, twice as many as the next-most successful, which of course, is the Melbourne Tigers with six.  
 
All up, Bulleen have won a total of 19 championships. Followed by the Melbourne Tigers are next with 15, followed by Dandenong Rangers with 12 and Nunawading Spectres with nine.
