Boomers journey to Qatar 2027 runs through Manila

The Boomers' next qualification window will be against Syria and Jordan.

FIBA have confirmed that the next window in the Australian Boomers qualification campaign will be hosted at Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.

The matchups against Syria on 28 August and Jordan on 30 August will be played in the neutral hub alongside four other fixtures as nations clash in the newly formed Group E.

As witnessed in the recent Boomers v Gilas matchup in Perth, the Philippines are a passionate basketball nation with a rich history of the game. The convergence into the nation’s capital will provide a festival-like atmosphere from 28 – 30 August.

Neighbouring nation New Zealand joins the Boomers in the Manila window, alongside Gilas who progressed from the first round to merge with Jordan, Syria and Iran.

To qualify for Qatar 2027, the Boomers will need to finish top three in their group with six games to be played, two apiece against Jordan, Syria and Iran. The best fourth placed nation Group E & F will also progress, with a total of seven spots available.

Host locations for the following windows starting November 2026 and February 2027 will be confirmed at a later date. For more information on the FIBA World Cup qualification pathway, click here.
