The Centre of Excellence (CoE) women will fight to keep their championship hopes alive when they host Albury-Wodonga in a Semi Final showdown this Saturday, with a place in the Preliminary Final on the line.
After falling to the undefeated Norths Bears 95-54 in last weekend’s Qualifying Final, the CoE will be eager to bounce back on home court.
While the result was disappointing, the clash provided valuable experience against the benchmark side of the NBL1 East, with the CoE still benefiting from the double chance earned through their top four finish on the NBL1 East ladder.
Now presented with another opportunity, the CoE remain firmly in the finals race and will look to make the most of their second chance, with a win securing a Preliminary Final berth against Bankstown.
Confidence should be high heading into the upcoming clash against the fifth placed Albury-Wodonga Bandits, having produced a dominant 33-point win when the two sides met back in Round Five.
Yet, the Bandits enter with momentum on their side after claiming a 73-61 win over Hornsby Ku-ring-gai in last weekend's Elimination Final, ensuring they will be full of belief heading into Saturday’s contest.
The CoE men’s campaign ended in last weekends Elimination Final against Central Coast, so hopes turn to the women’s program. They will aim to keep the Centre of Excellence’s championship dream alive in front of a home crowd at the Australian Institute of Sport.
