Boomers take World Cup campaign to Perth

Return to Perth marks the business end of the FIBA World Cup 2027 campaign.

It’s been over seven years since the Australian Boomers last played in the West. And their return marks the start of the business end for the FIBA World Cup 2027 campaign.

The approach to selection for the Boomers reflects the intentions in the window for Adam Caporn and coaches.

It was announced in May that Bryce Cotton would make his much-anticipated debut in the green and gold. Cotton becomes an unlocked element for the Boomers looking to find a competitive edge on the Road to Qatar.

The Final 12 announced on 1 June reinforced the focus. The Boomers are determined to assemble the pieces of the puzzle as their World Cup qualification campaign progresses.

And now it’s time for Perth.

THE COACHES

Adam Caporn is back in town and will lead the Boomers in the home stand. Caporn will be flanked by Associate Head Coach, Dean Vickerman and regulars, Kerry Williams, John Rillie and Keegan Crawford.

Training camp for the team starts on Tuesday in preparation for Guam & Philippines.

THE GAMES

Australia will have a final meeting with their Group A opponents Guam and Philippines to close out Round One of qualification.

The Boomers have clinched progression, but the way that the FIBA World Cup tournament is structured means that every performance matters.

There’s the obvious benefit of momentum, but every game in FIBA system aggregates and will be reflected on the path determined to Qatar. See more on the qualification process here
