The Gliders are putting the finishing touches on their preparations for the 2026 IWBF Women's Repechage, with Georgia Munro-Cook confident the group is well placed ahead of its departure for Spain.
The team is currently assembled in camp for the final time before travelling to Madrid, where four nations will secure qualification for the 2026 IWBF World Championships in Ottawa.
For Munro-Cook, having the full squad together has been an important part of the preparation process.
"It's been really fantastic, especially having Laura, Hannah and Izzy coming back into the group and having our 12 ready to go," Munro-Cook said.
"We're looking good."
The return of Laura Davoli, Hannah Dodd and Isabel Martin has completed the squad ahead of the tournament, allowing the Gliders to focus on building cohesion and refining their systems before departure.
After months of work both individually and as a group, Munro-Cook believes the team is entering the Repechage in a strong position.
"I think we're in the best shape that we've ever been in, and we've learned a new system that I think is really going to benefit us," she said.
"Everyone has gone away over the last year and worked on themselves, and I think we're going to see that improvement at the Repechage," Munro-Cook said.
The tournament carries extra significance for the Gliders, who are looking to secure a return to the World Championships after narrowly missing qualification for the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
"I think after not qualifying for Paris, it would be good to get the bugs out of that.
“We belong on the world stage and we want to show what we can do," she said.
The Gliders last competed at the IWBF Women's World Championships in 2023, finishing sixth. Now, with qualification on the line once again, Munro-Cook believes the group is ready to make a statement.
"We want to improve on that," she said.
"We plan on being on the podium."
