She Hoops Lights Up Hobart with an Inspiring Morning on Court

A high-energy session that brought elite athletes and the Tasmanian community together for skill building and inspiration.

Hobart delivered an unforgettable morning as the She Hoops Basketball Clinic brought elite talent, energy and connection to Kingborough Sports Centre.

Led by Opals star Alanna Smith and Olympic medallist teammate Tess Madgen, the clinic welcomed young athletes from across the region for a two-hour session focused on skill development, confidence-building and on-court learning. Participants gained practical guidance on shooting, footwork and decision-making, while also hearing directly about life at the highest level of the game.

A surprise visit from Ezi Magbegor added another layer to the experience, giving athletes the rare opportunity to learn from three Opals in one morning. All three took time to answer questions, share insights and connect with the group.

“Watching these girls learn, ask questions and back themselves is why we run She Hoops. They’re the future of our sport, and it’s a privilege to support that journey.” — Tess Madgen, She Hoops Lead

The clinic wrapped with a Q&A, photos, autographs and a free She Hoops t-shirt — a memorable finish to a valuable morning.

A huge thank you to Basketball Tasmania for the warm welcome and support in bringing this event to life. We look forward to returning to Hobart for the next one.
