Rollers go four from four

A dominant 69–42 victory over China keeps the Rollers’ unbeaten run alive at the AOZ Championships.

The Rollers have made it four from four at the Asia–Oceania Championships, overpowering China 69–42 in Bangkok today.

The win continues the Rollers’ strong form as they close in on the top of the pool standings.

Head Coach Brad Ness said the match was another step forward for his group, praising the collective effort across the board.

“It was a solid team effort today,” Ness said.

“We were able to rotate the bench and get some minutes into everyone. It was great to play all 11 players, which helped us keep things fresh.”

After a tight opening term that saw the Rollers edge ahead 14–13, Australia took control and outscored China 16–6 in the second quarter to take a 30–19 lead into the main break, setting the tone for a dominant second half.

From there, it was all green and gold. Australia’s pressure forced a series of Chinese turnovers as the Rollers poured in 22 points in the third quarter before closing with a comfortable 27-point margin to seal their fourth consecutive win of the campaign.

“Credit to China, they played well and really came at us early. We had to trust our game plan to create separation and get the win,” Ness said.

“After halftime, we were much better. The first quarter was a bit gritty, but the guys pushed through and turned it into a real team effort today.”

With Korea next up on the schedule, Ness said the focus now shifts to maintaining energy and execution as pool play wraps up.

“Korea are going to be a tough matchup,” Ness said.

“They have been in good form and have a few players who can light it up offensively, so we will need to be switched on.”
