National Champs Concludes in Bendigo

The 2025 Foot Locker National Champs has come to a close in Bendigo, with Victoria Metro claiming both titles.

After a blockbuster week of basketball in Bendigo, the 2025 Foot Locker Under-16 National Championships have officially come to a close, with Victoria Metro sweeping the gold in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions.

The nine-day tournament saw the best young talent from across the country converge at Red Energy Arena in Bendigo Victoria.

In the girls’ competition, Victoria Metro claimed the national title following a consistent and dominant campaign. New South Wales Metro finished with silver, while Queensland South secured the bronze.

The boys’ competition also ended in a championship win for Victoria Metro, with South Australia Metro earning silver and New South Wales Country rounding out the podium in third place.

Two athletes were recognised for their outstanding work on the defensive end, with Lara Gribben (South Australia Metro) and Mac Seebeck (Queensland South) named Defensive Players of the Tournament.

The Trish Fallon Fair Play Award, presented annually to the team that best embodies the spirit of the game, was awarded to Western Australia Country (girls) for their outstanding sportsmanship and team culture throughout the week. The award was presented by Opals three-time Olympian Marianna Tolo.
