Australia will take a blend of veterans and next generation talent in the upcoming Gold Coast featured game vs the University of Colorado on July 31.
A squad of 14 has been announced for the upcoming clash at the Gold Coast Sports & Leisure Centre which looms as an integral part of the process for incoming Head Coach, Adam Caporn.
Caporn will return to Australia for his first campaign on the sidelines in July and there is an invaluable opportunity to fire momentum into a talented era for the Boomers program with the Asia Cup in Jeddah ahead.
“I couldn’t be more excited to return to Australia and get on the floor with the staff and playing group. The Asia Cup is a critical first step in building our team and system as we integrate new faces across both the roster and coaching staff,” said Caporn.
The program is embarking with fresh foundations, but there’s familiar DNA with the Washington Wizards Assistant Coach locking in alongside Dean Vickerman for the CU Buffaloes fixture.
“FIBA preparation windows are extremely short, so we need to hit the ground running from day one of camp. Our departments are already hard at work to ensure we are highly organised and make the most of every minute together,” said Caporn.
“We’ll have a good mix of experienced Boomers and players getting their first taste of international tournament play at this level. So, we expect the learning curve to be steep and will embrace the opportunity to also grow as a group.”

Veteran stars Jack White and Xavier Cooks sit at the nucleus and will be integral as leaders for the inbound Boomers group.
White is coming off a championship-winning stint with Bayern Munich in Germany’s Bundesliga EuroLeague and spoke to the opportunity ahead.
“I know I can speak on behalf of the entire group when I say it’s always an honour to represent the green and gold,” said Jack White.
“We have an abundance of talent, and I can’t wait to get started with preparation for the upcoming window with the Boomers players and staff.”
Basketball Australia and the University of Colorado announced the featured game alongside Experience Gold Coast on 17 June.
Gold Coast continues to cement its reputation as a destination location for sports and entertainment, with the city also set to host events for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Boomers vs Buffaloes fixture reinforces the commitment to world-class events held on the Gold Coast.
