Emus advance to Round of 16 with statement win over France

Australia’s Emus have progressed from the group stage of the FIBA U19 World Cup.

Australia’s Emus have progressed from the group stage of the FIBA U19 World Cup with an impressive 71– 63 win over France in Lausanne, Switzerland overnight.

t was a dominant team display by Australia driven by a complete team and selfless defensive performance.

The Emus leant on guard Jacob Furphy and forward Roman Siulepa to lead the scoring.

Furphy continued an impressive tournament with 19 points including 5/9 from three-point range.  

The physical and bounding play from Roman Siulepa was on full display. Siulepa finished the game with 19 points, eight rebounds and a couple of huge blocks.

The win places the Emus in 2nd in the ‘Group of Death’ below the USA and reveals their route to progress to via the bracket stage of the tournament.

Finals commence from 4 July.
