Both the Opals and Boomers will play Serbia after progressing from the group stage in Lille in contrasting fashion.
After other results failed to fall the Opals way on Sunday night, it was a case of win or go home on Monday morning against the host-nation.
Australia came out firing and produced its best basketball of the tournament so far to down France, 79-72, and finish second in its Group B pool.
Captain Tess Madgen led her country with distinction scoring a game-high 18 points including four clutch triples.
The Opals now face the World No.10 on Wednesday night at 7pm, AEST.
Meanwhile, the Boomers progressed to the Quarters thanks to Canada defeating Spain in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Australia lost its final pool game to Greece on Friday night, 77-71, and needed the Canadians to prevail, and they did by just 3 points, in order to advance from Group A.
Jock Landale (17 points) was Australia’s top scorer in the loss to Greece.
The Boomers return to the court on Tuesday night (10.30pm, AEST) against fourth-ranked Serbia.
