Sam Charmand is an accomplished executive with a unique style of leading business growth and change through strong technology leadership and a successful history of unlocking true business value through technology, innovation and data. Sam has in-depth experience at management and Board levels to design, manage and drive a strong cyber culture across multinational, highly operational organisations. He is well known as a big-picture thinker, a pioneer with strong problem solving and business relationship capability.

Sam continues to coach the game that he loves and is currently coaching the U18 Men JPL basketball team at Bankstown Bruins for the 2024 representative season. Sam has also held the role of Board Director, Finance Director and Chair of the Representative Committee for Bankstown Basketball Association.

He is currently the Global Chief Digital & Information Officer at BlueScope Steel Limited. Most recently, Sam held the role of Group Chief Information Officer at Qantas Airways Limited. Sam is also a board advisor to the G’Day Group/ Discovery Parks.

Sam holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Masters of Business & Technology and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Directors.

Sam was elected to the Board of Basketball Australia in May 2024.
